Our Story

Welcome to The Rancher's Daughter!

Hey y’all! I’m Rendy Kerr, a proud fourth-generation Texan, born and raised in the heart of Houston. My journey has been deeply rooted in Texas, from growing up in Humble to moving to Spring during my freshman year. While my siblings were all involved in the FFA, I found my own unique path but still managed to become the FFA Sweetheart in my junior year.

The name "The Rancher's Daughter" holds a special place in my heart, honoring my father, a dedicated rancher. He also juggled multiple businesses, a testament to his hardworking spirit which continues to inspire me every day.

In 1982, I embarked on a career as a hairdresser, a profession I adored and continue to practice for family and friends, even after stepping away from the salon in 1988 to raise my first daughter. My license remains active, and I cherish the moments spent doing cuts, color, and more for my loved ones.

Blessed with a wonderful family, I have my daughter and two sons, all of whom live nearby, bringing immense joy to my life.

Before opening The Rancher’s Daughter, I enjoyed barrel racing as a hobby, but my true passion lay in home accessories, fashion, and jewelry. I channeled this love into a new venture, starting small by setting up at markets and events under a different company name. Eventually, I opened a 10x10 spot in Montgomery, TX. Two and a half years later, I bought out the shop owner, rebranded the store, and stayed in that location for almost two years before purchasing our now-iconic building. Despite its hot pink and zebra-striped controversy, we transformed it into the vibrant, welcoming boutique it is today.

We’ve been here for 13 years, in business for 15, and have grown from representing 25 Texas wineries in my first year to now representing 55 wineries from all over the world with 250 varieties of wines. Though I initially couldn't tell a cabernet from a chardonnay, I’ve learned so much from local mentors and always enjoy learning as much as I can.

One of my favorite aspects of running The Rancher’s Daughter is the incredible relationships and friendships I've formed with customers who have become dear friends. I’m always here to lend an ear, share a prayer, and offer support to anyone who walks through our doors.

A Little More About Me

"I am a mother of three grown children and five grandchildren. I enjoy cooking and spending time with family and friends. I love traveling and getting to explore the beauty the world has. Gardening is my favorite pastime, along with fishing—I’ve been blessed to fish all over North America, some of Mexico, and California. Hunting alligators is another thrill I’ve embraced; it was a fear until my first hunt in 2016. Now, I proudly wear my trophies as boots, a purse, and belts.

I’ve been fortunate to meet so many wonderful customers who are now friends. I never meet a stranger, and if I do, we soon become friends. I believe God has blessed me abundantly, from being a hairdresser/counselor behind a chair to now doing it behind a bar. The relationships I’ve formed are unbelievable. We often say we are the 'Cheers' of Montgomery, and yes, we have a Norm—my dear friend of 17 years."
